Everywhere else in the UK, the daffodils have come and gone by now, but here in Shetland they have just managed to force their way up and we are surrounded by their radiant sparks of sunshine along the road sides and in every garden. Our botanicals will start to spring into life soon, and the few trees that we have are beginning to shoot buds for their first leaves of the year.
